dedicated Infection Prevention Coordinator like you to be a part of
our team. Job Summary and Qualifications The Infection Prevention
Coordinator promotes and delivers high quality, patient-centered
care by assisting with the administration of Infection Prevention
policies, procedures and programs. As a part of the Infection
Prevention team, the Infection Prevention Coordinator identifies,
investigates, reports, and monitors the incidence of hospital
acquired infections among patients and personnel, and implements
policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination. The
Infection Prevention Coordinator is also responsible for assisting
with in-service programs and orientation related to infection
prevention, as well as collaboration with the Employee Health
Program to reduce exposures and mitigate risk. What you will do in
this role: - Participate in infection prevention surveys and
surveillance/rounding, based on the organization's risk assessment
plan, in accordance with state, federal, and other reporting
requirements. - Evaluate environment, practices, products, devices,
and equipment as related to infection prevention. - Apply
epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify target
populations, determine risk factors, design prevention and control
strategies, analyze trends and evaluate processes related to
infection prevention. - Collect and analyze data related to
infection prevention and control. Collaborate with Occupational
Health to assess environment for injury/illness risks. - Implement
epidemiologic investigation during the occurrence of infections and
infection clusters. - Monitor and evaluate the efficacy of
infection prevention activities, including methods of asepsis,
sterilization, and disinfection. - Implement and conduct special
studies when appropriate or requested by the Infection Prevention
Committee Chairperson. - Assist in coordinating prevention and
containment efforts for potential infections, pandemics, and
bioterrorist events. Serve as a resource to hospital personnel and
medical staff on patient placement, transmission-based precautions,
and other interventions, to control or reduce infections or
infectious risks. - Provide regular written and/or verbal infection
prevention and outcome reports to relevant committees, departments,
personnel, and external agencies. - Communicate efficiently and
reports occurrences of communicable diseases to federal, state, and
local public health authorities, in accordance with laws and
regulations. - Maintain accurate records of healthcare associated
infections among patients, in compliance with regulatory and
accrediting agencies. - Review and update policies and protocols as
needed to maintain compliance with regulations, standards, and
evidence-based guidelines. - Retain knowledge and actively
participate in collaboration with the construction team with the
planning, evaluation, implementation of the infection prevention
risk assessment with follow up rounds to ensure full compliance. -
Support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate
the patient experience. - Disseminate infection prevention and
employee health information to new employees and existing employees
as needed. Coordinate these efforts with new employee orientation
process and in-service training. - Provide ongoing education to
staff on infection prevention policies and procedures, including
hand hygiene, aseptic technique, antiseptics and disinfectants,
specific infectious diseases, and other related health care issues.
Update educational programs as assigned to include the latest
research and best practice in infection prevention. - Develop or
obtain educational materials and programs, as needed, for
personnel, patients, visitors, and the local community. -
Participate in continuing educational activities at the department,
state, and national levels. - Assist in the organization and
facilitation of regularly scheduled hospital Infection Prevention
meetings. - Participate in infection prevention activities in the
community through membership in professional organizations. -
Contribute to and work toward hospital-wide improvement in meeting
core measures, patient safety, and service excellence goals. -
Assume awareness for the appropriate allocation of hospital
resources as it pertains to infection prevention. What
qualifications you will need: - Associate’s Degree in Nursing or
Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing or health-related
field required. - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
within the state of Tennessee or compact state strongly preferred.
- 1 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred. - 1
years of experience in Infection Control preferred. - 1 years of
experience in a leadership role preferred. - Certification in
Infection Control preferred. - Membership in a professional
