StandardsEmployee performs highly skilled maintenance,
installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with
electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number of
areas including COA Parks, COA Recreation Centers and District
Maintenance Buildings. - Work involves technical application of
electrical principles. This is a fully seasoned skilled level
capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of
the discipline. This level would be attainable by multiple
incumbents in a work group (not necessarily by all) but would not
be an \'automatic\' promotional level.Supervision ReceivedWorks
under very general supervision. May work independently or with
other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for
completion of assigned tasks.Essential Duties & Responsibilities -
These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not
be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other
duties as assigned. OT as neededTroubleshoots to identify the
problem and repairs as needed in the following:IN PARKS -Perform
highly skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and/or
repair of work involved with electrical systems to include, but not
limited to, ballfield and tennis sports lighting systems,
basketball court systems, pavilion lighting and power, time clocks,
photocell control, lighting contactor systems, solar lighting
systems and other associated power and lighting systems.IN
RECREATION CENTERS AND MAINTENANCE FACILITIES -Perform highly
skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and/or repair of
work involved with electrical systems to include, but not limited
to, parking lot, and building security lighting, interior lights,
ballasts, lighting contactors, exit and emergency lights, occupancy
sensors, service distribution systems, panelboards and
disconnects.Provide recommendations and installation of system
upgrades to provide more efficient and economical operation of
electrical systems.Ability to work 30'-60' above ground and operate
aerial equipment to include, but not limited to, ladders, scissors
lifts, one-man lifts, bucket trucks and install overhead services
and drops.May be required to respond to afterhours calls and work
overtime as needed.Installs, repairs and services specialized
electrical equipment and machinery. Constructs and maintains
service equipment. Reads electrical circuit diagrams. Operates
power hand tools and other specialized electrical
equipment.Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom and
recommends purchases and suppliers.Strings/connects overhead lines
and does overhead line maintenanceSupervises other regular
employees during a minor portion of the employee's work time;
duties include assigning and reviewing work to other staff.Decision
MakingSelects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish
tasks. May make purchasing or resource allocation decisions within
organization guidelines upon Supervisor's approval.Leadership
ProvidedProvides guidance, training, and assistance to COA Parks
and Recreation staff, interns, and temporary employees, etc. as
associated with this positionKnowledge, Skills & Abilities - This
is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities
required to perform the job successfully. - It is not an exhaustive
list.Knowledge of industrial electrical troubleshooting; knowledge
of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and
systems used in the electrical trade; knowledge of applicable state
and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical
trade; knowledge of computer logic and programming; knowledge of
methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools,
machinery, and equipment; knowledge of safety precautions to be
observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and
mechanical equipment.Skilled in operating basic hand, hydraulic,
and pneumatic tools; skilled in communicating effectively verbally
and in writing.Ability to operate and use required tools and
equipment skillfully and safely; ability to assemble, install,
maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses; ability to make rough
sketches; ability to estimate cost, time and materials of
electrical work; ability to analyze and respond safely and
appropriately to emergency situations; ability to perform
preventive maintenance on switch gears and transformers; ability to
read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade;
ability to perform heavy physical labor; ability to train and
direct the work of other classified staff in the area; ability to
follow and give oral and written instructions; ability to maintain
cooperative working relationships. Ability to maintain trade
licensing and take classes to improve knowledge of skill set and
people skills.
