Job Details

Primary Responsibilities:

• Sets up and operates machines using various tools.
• Fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines.
• Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprint, sketch, damaged part or description of part.
• Plans and executes assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines.
• May operate computer console/computer-controlled machine.
• Utilizes precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work. Qualifications:
  • Requires machine shop training in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machining procedures OR at least 3 years of experience performing job-specific tasks
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Must be able to meet attendance standards
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills
  • Mechanical background/aptitude is required
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to read micrometers, calipers
  • Must be able to lift parts up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to understand basic math
  • Reading and writing comprehension is required
  • Must have the following technical skills: equipment maintenance and selection; installation; operation monitoring, control, and analysis; programming; quality control analysis; repairing; technology design; and, troubleshooting.
