We are currently seeking an EI&C Engineer on our Central Infrastructure team for our site in Charleston, TN. What you will do: The E&IC Engineer in Central Infrastructure performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple utility and process unites. Besides a thorough technical knowledge about electric power systems, field instrumentation, local and distributed control systems, it is also valuable to have a basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes. The main objective of this position is to provide engineering and technical services to operations and service units in order to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units. Support and closely cooperate with fellow Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering counterparts in assuring safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units
Support availability of production units as required capacity and quality
Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering
Participate in commissioning of new and modified production units
Participate in planning and execution of system or unit turnarounds
Support maintenance team in planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities
Maintain asset data in enterprise asset management and plant engineering system(s)
Keep documentation and equipment records up to date
Become an expert capable of exercising EI&C engineering judgment with respect to the process areas of responsibility and assigned subject matters
Develop and/or support development of specifications and standards
Supervise third party providers for engineering and maintenance services
Represent Wacker's interests toward suppliers and contractors
Plan and execute small size investment projects
Conduct and/ or coordinate de-bottlenecking and troubleshooting activities
Support process and technology transfer and exchange between Wacker's polysilicon production sites
Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality and cost
Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance department, within Operations and within other service units, with focus on achieving optimal results and solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective
Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with Wacker's policies and procedures What we need from you: Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation or Controls Engineering; OR Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with strong controls and 480V experience or equivalent / related education
3+ years of combined professional experience in the field of plant engineering, maintenance, and project management
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) a plus
Demonstrated knowledge of operation/maintenance of 480V equipment, such as motors and motor control centers (MCCs)
Thorough technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C) including relevant regulations, standards and codes
Basic understanding of chemical and physical processes
Experience of OSHA PSM covered systems and processes
Experience in PSM Management of Change (MOC)
Thorough understanding of engineering principles, maintenance strategies and construction practices in the field of mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering, instrumentation, controls, and automation
Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
Strong multitasking competency
Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
Plant Engineering activities are performed mainly in an office environment but also require presence in the field (manufacturing plant and/or construction site). Ability to walk out to the production building multiple times each day if needed.
Candidate must pass a pulmonary function test to be capable of wearing an air purifying respirator, if required.
Due to schedule and milestone requirements nonstandard work schedule such as nights, holidays and/or weekends may be required.
Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time as required
Preferred, but not required: experience with Emerson Delta V, SAP EAM, Functional Safety, Comos
