Job Description:

The Coordinator of Student Conduct serves as a member of the Office of Student Conduct. The incumbent reviews, processes, adjudicates and serves as an investigator for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct; Honor Code; Policy on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation (Title IX); and other University policies by students and student organizations. The Coordinator serves as the liaison to the Department of Housing & Residence Life's Residence Education program, providing guidance and support to department staff serving as Hearing Officers. The incumbent will also assist in maintaining conduct records and database software; assist with providing education and awareness of the Student Code of Conduct and Honor Code; assist with facilitating training for the Student Conduct Board and Honor Court; serve as a member of the Sexual Misconduct Response Team (SRT); and serve as an alternate and ad hoc representative for the Case Assessment, Review, and Evaluation (CARE) Team and Student of Concern (SOC) Team. The Coordinator will regularly respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community. The incumbent may serve as on-call for the Office of the Dean of Student on a rotating basis. This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Conduct. The incumbent may supervise administrative, graduate, intern, or student staff.The ideal candidate will possess the following:* Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.* Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving techniques, interviewing and investigation.* Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations.* Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle complex issues of extreme sensitivity.* Skill in writing concise, logical, analytical reports to convey complex issues.* Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress.* Demonstrated commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse constituencies, both domestic and international.* Strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity and respect for individual needs.* Ability to work as part of a University-wide community to resolve complaints in a neutral and sensitive manner.* Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with staff at all levels at the University.* Ability to read and interpret complex legal documents to evaluate their impact on University policy and procedures.* Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as they apply to Student Conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA and FERPA.Minimum Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of relevant experience and/or Graduate Internship/Practicum experience in a college or university conduct process; administrative, civil rights, or law investigations; or other related field.Preferred Qualifications:A Master's degree and three (3) or more years of relevant experience in a college or university conduct process; administrative, civil rights, or law investigations; or other related field.Significant experience conducting investigations alleging discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence; demonstrated experience working with individuals who may be in distress and/or handling difficult interactions; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity, working with multicultural populations with an awareness of issues affecting women, minorities, and persons with disabilities; the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, and administrators) with diplomacy and tact; knowledge, experience, and training in handling issues related to gender-based violence; proven superior leadership and management skills, and excellent presentation and training skills.
