OnTrack Hamilton Certified Peer Recovery Specialist The Helen Ross McNabb Center (www.mcnabbcenter.org) is a premier not-for-profit provider of behavioral health services. The Center provides quality care and serves all ages in a continuum of prevention, early intervention, social, co-occurring, addiction, outpatient and crisis services. The Center is seeking motivated staff members that possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. Excellent verbal, written and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as, maintaining proper documentation. Clinical staff members must be able to take and pass, without major modifications, a course in Handle with Care. This program requires hands-on, physical components to ensure the safety of the clients and staff. Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients. HRMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). HRMC is currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic professional for the following position: OnTrack Hamilton Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education/Knowledge: Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, bachelor's preferred, be a State of Tennessee Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, or have completed the following to be eligible for state certification: 1. Attended the 5 day training facilitated by State Certified Trainers 2. Gained 75 hours of work or volunteer experience in Peer Recovery services Experience: Must be a primary mental health consumer with appropriate life experience and a desire to be a role model for recovery. Experience in peer counseling is required. Some experience in customer service helpful. Must pass a drug screen and background check. Must have an F endorsement and a valid Driver's License. Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Close eye work. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent exposure to cleaning supplies. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Required to be certified in, and effectively implement, verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements; including but not limited to, grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking. An essential job function is a reliable, predictable 40 hour per week job, on site and in the community, with regular attendance. Outpatient/Community based environment. This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, running, and walking. Physical de-escalation techniques will only be implemented at Helen Ross McNabb Center facilities, and not in community settings. Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure. JOB SUMMARY The Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is responsible for leading education, socialization, empowerment, self advocacy, and support themed individual and group activities. This position is part of the OnTrack Hamilton TN coordinated specialty care (CSC) team. Position will promote recovery as part of the support services offered to those experiencing first episode psychosis. Job Duties Conduct recovery focused individual & group activities Teach relevant skills needed for self-management of symptoms Teach others how to overcome personal fears and anxieties Teach clients how to facilitate recovery dialogues through the use of focused conversation and other evidence-based and/or best practice methods Facilitate evidence- based recovery groups such as WRAP?, BRIDGES, or IMR Facilitate groups, as needed, on the themes of empowerment, self-advocacy, and problem solving skills. Provide peer counseling to clients when necessary and within limits of scope of activities Works with team to meet needs of consumers Responds to all client questions and phone calls within 1-2 business days Refer clients to other Rehabilitation and Recovery Services programs as appropriate and as requested by clients Complete all documentation in a timely manner and in compliance with agency standards Completes progress notes within 2 days of group/ contact Ensure that all privileged information and patient health information is transported in a locked bag in compliance with HIPAA laws and agency standards Assist clients in articulating their personal goals and objectives for recovery by completing Recovery Plans with clients Promote a recovery environment and atmosphere Treat all clients equally with dignity and respect Have sound knowledge of cultural diversity Model appropriate social behavior and mentor to members as evidenced by no substantiated negative client or staff reports Promote and maintain a positive working environment Address staff issues with supervisor within 2 business days of event Meet continuing education and training requirements of the State of Tennessee and the agency Attend seminars, workshops, and educational trainings as required by supervisor Ensure that qualifications are met for CPRS recertification and renewal with State of Tennessee This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; and employee will also perform other reasonably related job responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
