DescriptionPosition at Pilgrim'sFood Safety/ QA Supervisor IIAt Pilgrim's, Safety Is A Condition , which means the safety of our team members comes first - always.We have implemented safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We are working to ensure social distancing within our facility. We have installed physical barriers throughout our facility such as plexi-glass or plastic barriers between team member work stations. Each day, temperature screens are performed for each employee and visitor before entering the facility. Face coverings are provided and required over the mouth and nose at all times when inside the facility, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation is regularly performed.Purpose & Scope: Reports directly to the QA Superintendent and has primary responsibility for the direction of the workforce to achieve all safety, food safety, and quality goals as set forth by facility management. This position is responsible for the supervision of Food Safety and Quality (FSQA) personnel, and oversee quality and food safety aspects of production.Principle Responsibilities: Meet and exceed quality and food safety goals set forth by plant management by lever aging advance engineering skill setsCoordinates the activities of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) team for implementation of quality and food safety programs (HACCP and SSOP) and proceduresConduct s in vestigations of plant Quality Assurance and Food Safety processes and suggest s process improvements projects and tasks that to be completedParticipates in Operational Excellence project, meeting project team no less than twice per yearLook for continuous improvement in operating processes and procedures and encourages hourly team member's ownership of all processesConduct microbial R&D testing.Responsible for m inimizing customer claims through engineering controlsMonitors product and procedures to assure company, customer and government specifications are met or surpassed and make corrective actionCoordinate and supervise pre-operation sanitation, examining and verifying the cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and facilities dailyImprove employee safety by iden tifying hazards and problem shoo ting solutionsManages labor to a zero budgetProactively looks for ways to reduce cost through the elimination of foreign materialCompletes daily production plans by scheduling and assigning employees; accomplishing work results; prioritizing; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results on end of shift production summariesManages hourly employee's time cards and vacation requests, ensuring accurate payI ncreases emp loyee retention and maintains good work ing relationships with Production Supervision , USDA (meat), and all employeesE nsure s food safety, human resources, and safety policies compliance by all production employeesResolve problems and issues with products and employees as they ariseCommunicate frequently with USDA inspectors regarding product, employees, safety, etc.Ensure compliance to HACCP plan for all productsEstablish and maintain shelf-life requirements, finished product specifications, leaker testing, formulation weights, temperatures, and other necessary standardsDirect, motivate, and monitor Q.A. employees. Conduct interviews and hire new employees; evaluate performance of current employeesConduct sampling of finished product and raw materials for bacteriaMonitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, and cleanliness of production employeesEnsure completion of all QA dutiesTest new equipment for quality aspects Working Conditions: Production settingExposure to various chemicals, machinery and knivesSlippery floors, extreme temperatures and loud noisesHigh level of interaction with other departments and employees40 + hours per week, occasionally on weekends Requirements:E ducation: Bachelor's Degr e e in related field required (Food Science, Meat Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Food engineer, or related field) Experience: Extensive knowledge and technical skill in a variety of QA and production jobs, and in supervisory positions Special Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully , both written and verballyBilingual skills helpfulCapable of independent decision makingAbility to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent conflict resolution skillsDemonstrates integrity and fairnessAble to quickly and effectively adapt to new and changing situationsDesire for continuous improvementShows compassion towards and has an interest in othersBasic c omputer knowledge requiredGood organizational skillsAble to work assigned hours/days, including occasional weekends as requiredGood attendance and safety records Manages: Food Safety and Quality Assurance employeesEOE/M/F/Vets/Disabled
