Job Summary: The Point of Care Coordinator supervises the Specimen Processors and Referral areas of the laboratory, and oversees POCT under the supervision of the Laboratory Support Services Manager. Education: Required: High school equivalent plus one year approved clinical training or an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.De-escalation training, if applicable Preferred: Experience: Required: Laboratory Experience. Preferred: Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Licensed as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the State of Tennessee Laboratory Licensing Board. Preferred: Department Position Summary: The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for the instruction of new Specimen Processors and performs the duties of a Specimen Processor when the need arises. He/she works closely with the Laboratory Support Services Manager in the oversight of the POCT in the Health System. He/she handles customer calls and concerns. He/she must be very customer-oriented as this employee is in constant face-to-face contact with patients and phone contact with customers. He/she is responsible for researching and resolving problems. He/she is responsible for scheduling and ensuring adequate staffing, other decision-making functions and other duties assigned by the Laboratory Director. The associate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her section. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
