The Hot Chocolatier, Inc. is currently looking to hire a full time Pastry Chef.? Are you passionate about making beautiful and delicious cakes, pastries, and gelato?? We would love to have you join our team!?As Pastry Chef, you are responsible to work alongside the owners, management, other departments and your assistants to oversee production, design, execution, and presentation of our pastries. You are expected to help create our beautiful and delicious pastries by practicing time management and carefully monitoring back-stock of products in order to understand what and when things are needed for planning daily production. As department head, it is your responsibility to make sure your assistants are following all rules and procedures while executing all tasks correctly and efficiently. As leader of your team, you must be able to effectively communicate needs and lead by example. Please understand the importance of your position and be proud that you are helping run a small, locally-owned business that is growing each year!Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:-Must be able to read and understand recipes and weigh ingredients precisely.-Must have an understanding of production needs to insure freshness of our products.-Make all baked items and pastries, assemble/cut cakes, and make gelato.-Must keep pastry case filled with beautiful pastries daily and throughout your shift.-Must have an eye for detail, strong aesthetic skills and an understanding of how to execute clean and visually pleasing, delicious products.-Must communicate with other chefs/owners about production needs daily. Communication is extremely important with your coworkers and you will need to complete tasks assigned to you during your shift.-Prepare and Bake recipes with precision and efficiently while keeping your station clean at all times. Wash ALL of your dishes before moving on to another project.-Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prepare products correctly in a timely manner.-Operate mixers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely.-Must be ready and willing to help coworkers if they are in need. This includes assisting Front of House with customers if coworkers are overwhelmed. We will include some cross-training so that there is an understanding of how to assist if necessary. This also includes helping chocolatiers whenever necessary.-Cleaning kitchen daily.-Must make sure you and pastry assistants complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists.-Must follow health code standards. Some examples (but not limited to) are as follows: wearing clean clothes, wearing a hat and close-toed shoes, never sitting on the floor, regularly washing hands, never touching your face without then washing hands, LABELING EVERYTHING with a date and description, never eating or drinking in working areas, etc?.-Meet weekly with owners and/or management to discuss production needs and job performance.Requirements:-Must be able to work in a team environment and be detail-oriented.-Must have an artistic eye for detail and a good sense of design when executing products.-Must be able to communicate with assistants effectively and manage your department according to our standards maintaining a positive work environment.-Supervise and manage pastry staff.-Must carry out employee evaluations, provide disciplinary action if/when necessary, and also be able to provide constructive criticism to improve work-flow and product offerings.-Hiring, scheduling, taking inventory, or ordering supplies are responsibilities you need to assist with.-Must have a professional appearance.-Must be able to communicate and handle all situations with a professional manner.-Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and days surrounding major holidays.-Must be able to multitask and be a quick learner.-Must have great customer service skills.-Must be able to work with a sense of urgency and with precision.-Must be friendly and willing to assist coworkers and customers.-Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., stand for up to 9 hours, use your hands to perform detailed work, communicate clearly to coworkers and chefs.-Must follow procedures assigned by management/owners.-Must have proper transportation.More detail about The Hot Chocolatier, please visit https://culinaryagents.com/entities/155918-the-hot-chocolatier
