MRI Tech Location: Smyrna, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $959 per week Shift Information: Days - 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: - ARMRIT - Certified MRI Technologist or ARRT-MR - ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging - BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: - Must exhibit excellent communication skills. - Ability to function independently and under pressure. - Competent in all aspects of MRI. - Understanding of anatomy and pathology as they affect the quality of a procedure. Description: The MRI Technologist must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Dependability, accountability, and cooperation are essential. The technologist assists with providing safe and age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to established procedures. The candidate should possess the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely. This role involves performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in utilizing equipment. The technologist should be capable of independently performing job functions. The role includes setting up equipment for imaging services and positioning patients appropriately for procedures. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for administering contrast media. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification. Reviews images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations effectively. Assists other technologists in all modalities as needed. Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations for necessary physician intervention. Verifies correct patient identity prior to performing procedures. Ensures patients' privacy and comfort are maintained. Demonstrates competence in the application of appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to complete required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions during procedures and exams. Understands and documents pre-procedure verification and Time Out processes when appropriate. Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile techniques. Prepares trays and catheters for procedures and participates in biopsies if applicable. Demonstrates proficiency in applicable technologies. Prepares and may administer contrast media after verifying orders and necessary lab results. Uses appropriate safety devices to protect patients’ hearing during exams. Understands anatomical positioning and correct labeling of body parts. Utilizes critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Equipment Management: Demonstrates ability to adjust techniques for optimal image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors. Cleans and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies. Operates patient monitoring systems effectively. Education and Communication: Explains purpose and nature of exams to patients clearly. Addresses patient concerns satisfactorily, informing physicians when necessary. Participates in training new departmental employees. Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise terminology. Reads emails daily and completes mandatory education without prompting. Quality Control: Produces acceptable images and follows established exam protocols. Checks equipment for operational readiness before use. Transmits studies immediately after completion. Maintains MRI suite as a safe environment. Operations: Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean department. Transports and positions patients safely. Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies supportive and immobilization devices as needed. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others. Performs routine clerical duties to ensure continuity and quality of service. Maintains consistent productivity and keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities. Maintains compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Takes call when necessary.
