ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of Environmental, Safety, & Health (ESH) will provide the overall leadership for the Astec organization with the identified company and group goals.
The Director of ESH will work closely with the local and corporate leadership teams to oversee and manage the Company's ESH programs in a consistent and timely manner to ensure operational compliance with policies and procedures, governmental regulations and standards, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for achieving the goals and objectives leading us to ZERO Harm.

Key Deliverables
Identify long-term ESH targets with actionable plan to get there
Work with all site ESH Managers to develop and design ESH into our OneASTEC portfolio
Lead OneASTEC ESH initiatives to drive ZERO harm
Lead, maintain, and manage recordable root cause analysis
Develop, implement, and deploy a One ASTEC ESH Roadmap standard to include data, programs, and procedures
Ensure Astec is compliant with all geographical ESH regulations

Key Activities & Responsibilities
Ensure Astec is compliant with all geographical regulations (air, water, gas, electric, etc.)
Support Environmental compliance audits across all Astec sites
Support and drive initiatives in the Environmental and Sustainability journey at all Astec sites
Support implementation of a Behavioral Based Safety program
Actively work with Astec Management and Associates to develop programs, rules, and procedures to support reduction in incidents and comply with governmental regulation
Drive a strong ESH leadership program and promote a ZERO Harm culture
Ensure timely communication and consultation regarding ESH incidents, and best practices
Ensures proper incident investigations are conducted and that corrective and/or preventive actions are taken. Recommends and communicates actions for reducing future incidents.
Collect, organize, and present ESH performance data/trending to local and executive leadership teams
Advise management on OSHA, EPA, and other ESH regulatory developments
Develop, implement, and coordinate ESH policies, procedures, and programs.
Recommend and implement changes in procedures, as necessary, to comply with state, local and federal requirements.
Collaborate with ESH Managers and Operations Teams to develop and implement safe work practices
Work to assist with Workers' Compensation Program costs to reduce liability and reserves.
Annual budget responsibility

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are
A Bachelor's degree preferred. Master's degree a plus
Minimum ten years' experience with ESH in a Manufacturing environment.
Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus
Manufacturing experience preferred (machine shop, welding, assembly, painting, etc.)
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with executives, employees, management, and outside contractors regarding ESH plans, goals, and objectives
Must be able to organize and manage multiple ESH projects and priorities
Ability to effectively speak publicly and make presentations is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, pollution, energy efficiency, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), hazardous waste management, and other Environmental regulations
Knowledge of OSHA Standards and industrial accepted safe work practices
Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, Fishbone
Leadership in risk and change management
Analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to build, develop and motivate teams
Cross-functional collaboration
Strong project management abilities
Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings

Supervisor and Leadership Expectations
The Director of ESH will report directly to the Sr. VP of Operational Excellence and will work closely with the senior management team. The ESH Managers will have a dotted line to this position.
