Join our global Gestamp family! EXPECTATIONS:Gestamp's Chattanooga, Tennessee plant is looking for a Tooling Manager that craves working in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment. The Tooling Manager's emphasis is to coordinate, oversee, advise and lead the toolmakers in their daily functions and tasks to ensure adherence to customer quality specifications and corporate throughput targets. Responsibilities include:

• Lead tooling department and provide technical leadership to tool makers.
• Develop and complete work plans to achieve dimensional/surface improvements to dies and ensure highest level of production throughput in stamping operations.
• Ensure toolmakers are trained in maintenance of dies including spotting, draw die formability and line operation repairs.
• Implement full metal formability system to track and adjust areas of high thinning using ultra sonic and physical measurements.
• Order and maintain spare parts stock.
• Ensure safety rules and PPI being adhered to.
• Responsible for the Tool & Die monthly/annual budget. MUST-HAVES:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or 8-10 years tool and die journeyman status in an automotive environment.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years automotive tool & die experience.
  • 4+ years automotive supervisory/lead experience.
  • Toolmaker apprenticeship required.
  • Knowledge of metal forming, including draw die binder development, forming limit diagrams and thinning analysis.
  • Knowledge of die weld repair, machining and spotting.
