General_Summary This position is responsible delivering a high-quality and effective ADA support service to our customers. The person in this position is responsible for establishing and expanding partnerships in order to develop and maintain an effective and integrated process. This position serves as a subject matter expert with internal partners, employers, producers, claimants, sales/service and new case implementation and business development activities. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely administration of services and highly responsive, high quality levels of customer service and meeting performance standards established within the operational area. This position is responsible for the overall customer relationship as it pertains to the program s services and experience. This position is also responsible for attracting, developing and retaining professional resources to achieve overall organization objectives. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop the technical claims management, judgment and decision making skills of professionals who report into this position. It is anticipated that the scope of responsibilities may expand as the service grows. Principal Duties and Responsibilities * Maintain overall responsibility for managing service delivery through team members; including daily activities and decisions associated with program s services * Be accountable for inventory management ensuring that Unum protocols are followed to ensure that proper decisions are made * Accountable for talent management, including selection, training, retention and performance management * Partner with implementation resources to onboard new customers * Ensure workflows are accurate for the service offering, including any applicable client-specific workflows or administration expectations * Develop strong relationship with key business partner to ensure effective delivery of the service offering * Act as primary business support resource for sales, service, underwriting and marketing * Manage/facilitate resolution of customer issues * Contribute to operating effectiveness through continuous analysis of work processes and effective implementation of change * Partner with Quality Assurance to identify trends and develop action plans to improve overall quality of file management * Assist in meeting organizational goals through prudent expense management and effective use of headcount and other resources * Supports the business head in developing business plans for the unit and/ or department * Performs other duties as assigned Job Specifications * Bachelor s degree or commensurate level of claims experience required graduate degree or professional designation preferred * Previous management of a service oriented team and understanding of vocational rehabilitation preferred * A minimum of 5+ years of technical claims or related management experience; leave and/or disability claims experience preferred * Expertise in multiple product lines (Leave Management, STD, LTD, etc.) * Ability to manage the performance of employees in a candid, constructive, and timely way, including encouragement of leadership, results, gaps in skills, and areas for development * Demonstrates leadership to ensure employees behave with the highest degree of integrity and fairness, and exchange information and ideas useful to others in performing their work * Excellent communication skills both written and verbal * Strong decision making and problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and take appropriate actions based on key business indicators/trends * Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills * Ability to effectively and professionally partner/influence internal and external audiences, representatives and resources at various levels and with varying needs * Occasional travel required Unum and its family of businesses offer world-class training and development, generous compensation and benefits packages, and a culture built on employee ideas.
