Role Summary:This position has the responsibility to test and provide release recommendations for the defined functions for the vehicles built in the Chattanooga assembly plant and support for all VW vehicles sold in the USA. This will be achieved by static testing using test boards and simulators as well as full functional testing in the field. Responsibility includes the definition of the functional test catalog, conducting the tests, and the documentation and presentation of the results. Role Responsibilities: Error Resolution - (50> )

  • Provides documentation (failure report, CAN trace) on electrical communication errors during production in Chattanooga.
  • Uploads the documentation to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution.
  • Support quality to analyze electrical complaints in the field, coordinate with the responsible developers and track the topic through problem resolutions Field Test Coordination - (30> )
    • Identifies, confirms, and maintains a database of test routes for field drives based on destination and/or test features.
    • Organizes test plans (static and dynamic) and coordinates with the interested participants to evaluate vehicle systems performance in the on-road market environment. Software/Hardware Testing- (20> )
      • Defines all relevant test cases with functional owners in Germany and vehicle test manager in Chattanooga for the upcoming release.
      • Ensures that all test cases are performed (manual and automated) on each component/control module in each of the necessary vehicle and powertrain configurations.
      • Documents (failure report, CAN traces) on any issues identified during the integration testing and reports through internal tracking system.
      • Reports all findings through test systems and makes recommendations with vehicle test manager regarding the status and release of the systems.
        • 3 years of experience with automotive electronic system testing
        • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent degree required
        • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering desired Skills: General skills needed to perform the job

          • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
          • Computer savvy - skilled in the use of software
          • Integration - joining people, processes or systems
          • Influencing and negotiation skills

          • German skills written and verbal are advantageous Specialized Skills: Required
            • Development experience with automotive control modules
            • Experience with automotive control module root cause analysis
            • Experience with automotive control module root cause analysis
            • Knowledge of vehicle communication networks Desired:
              • Experience testing/releasing full vehicle electrical systems (module and functional testing)
              • Experience with Volkswagen electronics control modules
              • Knowledge/experience in testing or developing advanced driver assistance systems Work Flexibility:
                • Frequently traveling to the suppliers and the R&D department in Wolfsburg, Germany
