Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer ensures that production operations are ready to go at the scheduled start of production effectively utilizing lean methodologies to meet or exceed performance standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will work directly with manufacturing groups for Motor and Gear or Drive Unit assembly in defining and optimizing plant layout, identification and acquisition of tooling, developing work instructions and identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Align with the team on safety objectives and delivery targets.
  • Ensure space and infrastructure are prepared for new projects, product launches, or changes.
  • Execute business cases for capital expenditures, including tools, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Design production floor layouts to meet planned takt time and scheduling requirements.
  • Drive task execution and project plans by guiding and following up with the team.
  • Develop and verify assembly process instructions and routing tables for accuracy.
  • Review engineering drawings and 3D models to assess manufacturing process needs.
  • Design or source tools, templates, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering specifications.
  • Lead initiatives for manufacturing improvements, process enhancements, and technology upgrades.
  • Coordinate and communicate technical information across all organizational levels.
    To thrive in this role, you have:
    • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology
    • Experience in the rail or aviation industry, with a preference for heavy rail
    • 3+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment (new graduates may be considered based on other qualifications)
    • 1+ years of experience planning and supporting product localization and factory layout updates
    • Strong project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines, budgets, and completing required documentation
    • Practical knowledge of lean principles for waste reduction
    • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and implementing countermeasures
    • Experience applying lean tools such as 5S and the 7 Types of Waste
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SAP

The base salary range for this position in Alpharetta, GA is $60,000 - $70,500. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
