Description: Job Summary:The Mechanical Engineer provides
engineering services in support of Sales, Service and Production
for heavy equipment and tools and is part of a team of engineers
which support and develop Sherman + Reilly's catalog of products
and custom order requests.Organizational Relationships:This
position reports to Engineering Management. In addition, the
incumbent must work closely with Product Managers, Project
Managers, Engineering Leads, Engineers, Designers, Supply Chain and
Manufacturing representatives in the development and application of
product solutions.Job Responsibilities:The Mechanical Engineer will
provide Sales, Service and Production with technical expertise for
all S+R transmission equipment and some legacy products.
Additionally, this role is expected to provide support for customer
requests that deviate from existing product offerings during
initial development, design and production. The Mechanical Engineer
will provide engineering services that include innovative design,
physical analysis and documentation that meet customer
requirements. This role is expected to generate concepts for
innovative products with features based on the following: customer
input, field sales team input, market research, ideation exercises,
and other methodologies as needed.- Plans and performs engineering
research, design and development that support the manufacture of
parts and components- Works with engineering team to ensure
successful hand-off from Engineering to Manufacturing for
production- Provides estimates and works with engineering
management to help set schedules / priorities for the team to meet
completion dates and technical specifications- Works closely with
Designers and Drafters assigned to projects to ensure integrity and
timeliness of documentation efforts- Develops complex assemblies
and a variety of part types using creative manufacturing methods
(i.e. castings, machined components, weldments, plastics, etc.)-
Other duties may be assigned.Requirements: Qualifications:-
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an
equivalent field of Engineering, with 5 or more years of
engineering experience- Experience creating design drawings with
geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)- Capable of
validating component and assembly designs through finite element
analysis, peer review and DFM/DFA stage gate reviews with
Engineering and other departments- Proficient in complex computer
skills using Access, Excel, Word, CAD software and ERP/MRP system -
SolidWorks experience and associated analysis tools are preferred-
Experience with heavy mobile equipment is desirable. Hydraulic and
Electronic system experience is a plus- Excellent verbal and
written communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with
internal and external organizational contacts are required- Strong
preference given to candidates with prior experience in engineering
design standards development and 'hands-on' experience with
manufacturing processes- Proficient experience contributing towards
innovative ideas as an open-minded and collaborative team player-
