We are currently seeking a Pressure Relief Device (PRD)/PSV Engineer for our site in Charleston, TN. What you will do: This Engineer performs a variety of mechanical process and facilities engineering work tasks regarding pressure relief devices local to the Charleston site. This role will continuously improve the pressure relief device program and coordinate application/rollout of relevant regional policies to the site. This position also provides engineering and technical services to Operations and additional service units in order to assure safe operations and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units. Technical Duties: Apply industry knowledge/experience to optimize site pressure relief device program (stock philosophy, material tracking, and realization of regional testing/rebuild requirements).
Revise/create relevant design and maintenance documentation standards per applicable industry standards and best practices
Perform engineering design/exercise engineering judgment to improve equipment as necessary in accordance with management of change and other PSM-compliant programs
Support site engineering teams in the implementation of fixed equipment programs
Become an expert capable of exercising process engineering judgement with respect to the process area of responsibility and assigned subject matters
Develop/improve specifications and standards
Identify and aid in coordination of training programs for relevant team members
Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance teams, within Operations, and other service units with a focus on achieving optimal results and solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective
Act as 3rd party expert in relevant process hazard analyses, change management requests, and related safety reviews
All other duties as assigned Administrative Duties: Auditing of documentation, equipment records, and BOMs
Represent WACKER's interests towards authorities, suppliers, and contractors
Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with WACKER policies and procedures
All other duties as assigned What we need from you: Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering is required
Minimum of 8 years' experience is required
Thorough technical knowledge in the field of mechanical process and facilities engineering including a familiarity of relevant regulations, standards, and codes.
Familiar working with process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, pipeline isometrics, and equipment drawings
Understanding of function and design of processing equipment and piping systems including pressure relief devices, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, etc.
Objective judgement and fact-based decision-making approach
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
Strong multitasking competency
Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
Preferred, but not required: Six Sigma and Lean, SAP EAM, COMOS experience
Must be physically fit to wear an air purifying respirator if necessary
Due to schedule and milestone requirements, a nonstandard work schedule such as nights, holidays, and/or weekends may be required
Familiarity with relevant API (520/521/576) and ASME standards
