Assistant/Associate Professor, Athletic Training Program Director Health and Human Performance IRIS Position Number: 50080536 Description The Department of Health and Human Performance within the College of Health, Education, and Professional Studies at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in a CAATE accredited Graduate Athletic Training Program, beginning August 1, 2019. The position responsibilities include the following: Serve as Program Director for the CAATE Accredited Graduate Athletic Training Program (GATP) Coordinate curricular changes to align with recently release accreditation standards Oversee day-to-day operation, supervision, and evaluation of the GATP Teach graduate courses in athletic training and/or other courses assigned by the department head Develop an active research agenda that leads to refereed publications and presentations Seek external funding to support research agenda Advise students in research, curricular, and post-graduation preparation Provide service to the department, school, college, university and professional organization(s) Work with the Office of Admissions in the recruitment of students into the GATP Work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty and staff within and across disciplines Qualifications Successful candidates will possess the following requirements: Earned doctorate in athletic training or closely-related discipline (e.g., exercise science, sports medicine, educational leadership, etc.). Individuals who are "all but dissertation" (ABD) will be considered for faculty positions at UTC; however, the degree must be awarded before the first day of employment. Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification and eligibility for Tennessee State Licensure Demonstrated clinical experience as an athletic trainer Demonstrated university-level experience in discipline-specific teaching Evidence of supervision and evaluation of athletic training students Knowledge and/or experience with the CAATE accreditation process Knowledge and/or experience with the administration of an athletic training program Evidence of conducting and disseminating peer-reviewed discipline-specific research Experience using a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC's strategic plan, including a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion Excellent communication skills when working with diverse groups Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Program Director and/or Clinical Education Coordinator Demonstrated record of leadership and the ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty Experience as a CAATE evaluation team member for on-site accreditation visits Experience as a clinical preceptor for 3 or more years Graduate-level teaching and advising experience Application Procedures: Applicants should prepare to submit the following information to our online application system for consideration: Cover letter/letter of interest Curriculum Vitae, including up-to-date, personal contact information Unofficial transcripts Statement of research focus (1-page) Statement of teaching philosophy (1-page) Names, titles, phone numbers, and email addresses for three (3) references for confidential letters of recommendation to be requested.
