Description Job Title: Long-Term & Short-Term Substitute Teachers

Temporary, Part-time, Daily Rate, Non-Exempt The Schenck School is
an independent day school, located in Atlanta, Georgia for students
with dyslexia, grades K through 6. The School was founded in 1959
by David T. Schenck and uses the Orton-Gillingham approach. Our
model is an intensive remediation model in which students come to
us at all different grade levels, with varying degrees of dyslexia.
Students stay for an average of 2 to 3 years and outplace to other
schools when academically prepared. There are two highly trained
teachers in each classroom, with a five-to-one student/teacher
ratio providing the excellence in dyslexia remediation the School
is well known for. PURPOSE/GOALS : A Long or Short Term Substitute
will advance the mission of The Schenck School by serving as a
substitute teacher as needed, and embracing the School’s unique
co-teaching model. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES : Provide support for
teachers on an as-needed basis by substituting in their classrooms.
Work in a collaborative, co-taught environment while providing
instruction to students. Maintain good communication on a daily
basis with teachers, students and parents, as well as the Head of
School and Administrative Leadership team. Provide assistance with
the School’s daily carpool process, lunch, and recess duties as
needed. Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or by the Head
of School. REQUIREMENTS : Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Prior
teaching experience required. O-G experience highly regarded.
Strong computer skills required. Maintain confidential information
and exercise good judgment. Handle and prioritize multiple tasks
and demands; seek supervisory assistance as appropriate. Proven
ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each primary responsibility
satisfactorily. Must be able to communicate both written and oral
information clearly. Must be able to apply common sense
understanding, carry out instructions, and establish appropriate
priorities. Must demonstrate competency with basic online learning
platforms and Internet functions. Must be able to lift up to 30
pounds. Requires relevant experience and educational background.
